Bibliophile

I've been thinking about starting a collection of 19th century books (book from the 19th century--printed, bound, and sold, not just written), preferably first editions. The obvious exception to this would be Moby Dick, since I don't have 50K to spot for a first edition! Ha!

Stickley seems the obvious and most appropriate choice in which to house them:

For starters, I have inquired about a first edition copy of Hannah Gardner Creamer's Delia's Doctors--the cornerstone of my dissertation. I have found a single copy at an "affordable" price of $210. I've asked about putting it on layaway and am awaiting scans of the book's cover and condition. I'm excited!

My second purchse (eventually) will be a first edition copy of Louisa May Alcott's Work, my very favorite Alcott novel.

I'd also love to start a collection of etiquette manuals and Harper's Weekly from 1840-1870.

As a fellow bibliophile, I cannot help but envy your decision; the downside of focusing on the Early Modern period is that this sort of library is not really feasible. Kudos and good luck. And may I say that the bookcase picture you posted is better than porn. Delicious.
