Una Mattina a Venezia
Since I've been obsessing over what insomnia sounds like (I managed to burn myself a CD of this, an extended version of my posted autobiographical sketch), I remebered that I had insomnia when I was in Venezia last summer. I was up all night and waited until that lovely blue-ish, violet morning light appeared then got up and went out with my camera. I wandered the still-cool, quiet city and look a few photos, which I have included below. It was the only time I had any sense of affinity with my dad's home land...perhaps it was because it was the only time I was alone in Italy and I relished the solitude. To feel like you are alone with a city is an incredible thing.
