I left my heart(s)....

Man. I'm back, but I don't want to be! We had an amazing (though too short!!) time in the Bay. I'm really tired, but here's the dirty of it:

Friday night we picked up Steve in Santa Cruz and then drove up to Palo Alto to meet Cindy. We spent the evening at a bar eating fish and chips and drinking car bombs while waiting for Dane to get off work. At about 1:30 a.m., we all decided needed more alcohol, so we walked about a mile and a half to a Safeway. On the way, Kyle and Cindy jumped into a Safeway cart and Steve raced the cart down the sidewalk. An unmarked carload full of po-po pulled over and asked us who the cart belongs to and what we're up to. Steve stood up straight, and in his best "dignified" voice, informed them that we were returning the cart to Safeway, "a mere 3 blocks down!" The cop replied, "Oh! Thank you! Have a good night." It was a such a "these are not the droids you're looking for" moment....

Saturday, Dane, Steve, Kyle and I went down to Pescadero (near Half Moon Bay) and ran around on the beach, got into some of the caves, and wreaked playful havoc. I got carsick and almost punched Dane for driving fast on the curves, but, meh....

Saturday night was the wedding reception at this SWEET bar in SoMa. Twas great to see Kyle in his element, around his best friend and totally happy. I didn't know anyone, so struck up a conversation with this rad couple. Turns out, he's a Native kid from Arizona who's a photographer, who splits his time between SF and NYC (leave it to me to pluck up a conversation with the only Native kid in the joint). She's a documentary filmmaker, who's currently working on a film about the "phenomena" that is Latino Morrissey fans. Fun! We stayed at Sarah and Eric's that night, which was fantastic, and Kyle was able to a glean a little dirt on me. Heh. Here we are, on our way out of The Gallery Bar on Saturday night, after the reception. He's had a lot of whiskey here. Ha!

We got up the next morning and wandered over to Blue Bottle Coffee Company (my faaaaavorite) and then over to Zeitgeist to meet Eric and Steve for cheeseburgers and blood mary's. We're classy like that.

Here's Sarah and I, outside of Zeitgeist and in front of graffiti that reads, "Cunts work here!" We were amused....

Kyle and I DRUG our feet getting home, so left Redwood City at about 5 p.m. yesterday. It was good to be back in my bed, but not good to be back in the I.E.

I've decided to move back up to the Bay in September and told Sarah and Kyle this over the weekend. While we were in this awesome little travel store, Kyle asked me if I wanted to go to Paris in September, before we both move, for 10 days or so. I'm not sure if I can afford it yet, but the thought of spending 10 days in Paris with him seems unfathomably amazing, so I'm going to do my best to prepare and plan.

I have a super-tough couple of weeks ahead of me, and feel very deflated and glum about the VA Tech shootings, so thinking about Paris and moving back to the Bay seem like little glimmering lights (though not in the fatalistic Great Gatsby green light way).

xoxo
